g00dni9ht Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Hello! I had a couple questions that hopefully can get answered. 1) I want to install Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition solely for the use of letting other computers connect to the server through a remote desktop connection. (i.e. they would have their own desktop and programs etc) I have been reading around and what it looks like is that there is only a maximum of 2 concurrent remote desktop connections allowed? Does it only include administrative accounts? What if I made one administrative account and three standard accounts. - The 1 administrative account for me to install applications etc. - The other three accounts for my users. Really, there will only be a maximum of three concurrent connections at one time through the remote desktop connection. (Where they can see their own desktop and applications) ------- The server will host all the files and applications needed for my clients. The client's computers will simply use the Remote Desktop Connection program to connect to the server with their username and password. Another question: There will be some computers that will just require to access the files from the server. They won't need their own desktop and programs. Just access to the files. What would be the best approach to this? I was thinking of just doing a file share like you can do with Windows 7 Home Prem, Ultimate, etc. Would this be the best option? Thanks. Eric Quote
ICTCity Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Yes, unless you buy a license for terminal server you can have only 2 or 3 concurrent connections, no matter if they are admin or users. Yes, share the folder. Quote -------------------------------------------------------- Tu peux aussi crire en franais. Du kannst auch auf Deutsch schreiben.
