JackWebb Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 I'm trying to install Windows 2008 Enterprise. My system consists of 1 IDE drive and 5 SATA drives. I want to install the OS on the IDE drive because I have other uses for the SATA drives. Each time I start the install, the IDE drive isn't an option for install. All of the drives are listed during POST and in BIOS. So, i'm not sure what the problem could be. Quote

I would expect to possibly need a device driver for a SATA but a IDE frive. Wouldn't that driver be default to the installation disk as I'm sure SATA would be. I have never had to have a driver disk for a IDE drive. What makes Win Server 2008 different where it would have a driver for SATA but not IDE? Wouldn't just load a default driver as it would for video? Didn't run into this problem with Win Server 2003. Quote
