I am a surfer. Forums used to be my passion. Both running them and visiting them. I think this is a fine idea for a forum. I'll have some of my favs posted when I get time.

Are you running any forums now or have you thought about doing it? I'd love to see more old school forum admins get back in the game!

I am thinking about starting a forum. Not sure what topic. If I ever do pick a topic I'll start one.

Go with a passion. Choose a niche or topic that you absolutely love to talk about in real life. It needs to be a topic that you can see yourself enjoying even for many years to come.

One of my forums is a hiking and backpacking forum. I've been a hiker and a backpacker for around 13 years now. I go every weekend. I love every bit of it. It's even allowed me to form a local brand. So, that was a good choice for a forum because I'll always enjoy talking about it.

If you choose a topic you know little about just because it's a trend, it's going to be hard to compete with a forum run by someone passionate about a topic you're not that passionate about. 🙂
