Geek Posted October 12 Posted October 12 Been away from forums for while. I still visit certain forums from time to time. Haven't run one in a long time. I am thinking about starting one. I'm researching topics. I am a geek so anything tech would work. When I was involved in forums there were no reddit or facebook. To make a forum work in the day of reddit and facebook what does an admin need to do? 1 Quote
Forum² Staff Shawn Posted October 13 Forum² Staff Posted October 13 Well, I'd choose your ideal topic and then research your audience. See if they're on forums. If not many are using forums, I find it's a lot harder to convert them. That doesn't mean you can't, but it will just require more pushing on your effort. Make sure you have plenty of content each day if you can do it. Post a few topics a day and answer any posts once you start getting more people. If and when you start a forum, let me know, I'll definitely join and try to help give you some content :) 1 Quote My forums: Another Admin Forum | vBAdmins Forum | Off Topic Forum | The Hiking Forum

flow Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Starting a forum can be very rewarding. I will advise you to go with the tech niches. They are broad and you can easily get topics that will spark engagement. It could be on cybersecurity, AI, or gaming. Understanding the current dynamics is also very crucial. You can leverage platforms like Discord, Reddit, and Facebook to understand the current community dynamics. 1 Quote
Tidal Posted November 3 Posted November 3 I’ll advise to focus on a specific niche like retro gaming. This can attract dedicated members especially the ones that are seeking in-depth discussions. 1 Quote
